useful information for other trolley users

Martin’s Trolley

The main problem was that the rear legs of the seat box hit the wheels of the trolley when I tried to attach it.  Also the base of the seat box when on its feet was higher than the trolley base meaning that it was not able to sit on the trolley without the feet being on the floor.

I tried turning the box round as per the article in Angling Times but the footplate thumb screws were resting on the brackets which connect the main trolley frame to the fold down base and could not be made to hold the box secure.

After some consideration I decided to place some wood across the bottom of the box to enable it to sit on the trolley easily and to raise it up so that the feet were not on the floor.  Once this had been done all that was left was to stop the box going too far back so that the rear legs hit the wheels.  This was achieved by placing two small pieces of wood on the base of the box which would fit in between the cross beams on the base of the trolley.  This held the box very securely but there was still a problem that when the trolley was lifted the box would fall over as nothing was holding it at the top.  Therefore I placed another piece of wood across the top of the trolley and adjusted the thickness until the top of the box rested on this and could no longer move when the trolley was in use.

I hope the pictures explain better, but the solution is extremely secure and does not need any additional straps to hold the box in place.  It is also very quick and easy to use as the wood on the base locates simply into the trolley.  I then strap everything else to the box.

As I am a match angler I always take too much gear with me and particularly struggled at BWB Boddingtons Reservoir where you can have a very long walk to your peg (You can see the distance to the other end of the lake).  I hope you can see from the picture the fully loaded trolley is able to make this walk a complete joy and I am now able to make it to my peg without the risk of a heart attack when I get there.

Thanks for all your help.                                                            Martin’s Photo Gallery
